Architectural Contest

The competition provides a unique opportunity for architects and future architects to challenge conventional approaches to design, to investigate and develop new concepts for an open and sustainable architecture for the 21st. Century. Intended to bring wider international recognition to talented architects and designers.
Woodstock Museum is a Federal non-profit 501(c)(3) educational institution provisionally chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and is a major tourist attraction recognized around the world.
This is an open competition with limited restrictions.
We are asking that individual architects, architectural firms, architectural organizations, individual students and student groups forward an email HERE indicating Intent to Place an Entry
in the competition as early as possible.

Phase-One entry Deadline: Dec. 31, 2008 Late Deadline: Jan.16, 2009
(entry fee is additional $50 Professional, $35 Student)
Final Submission Deadline: April 1, 2009
Additional stipend for conference attendance will be given to prizewinners.
Award winners will be featured on Woodstock TV streamed worldwide, newspapers, magazines and other promotional materials.
CRITERIA: Aesthetics, Beauty, ADA Compliant, Environmental Statement, Green Materials & Budget (approx. retail $U.S. building costs)
Woodstock Museum is an exciting competition created to promote great architecture and design for a new promenade/challenged ramp, deck and performance stage (with trap door) It must include a hundred odd pieces of used battleship decking made of teak & steel spelling PEACE (exact size pieces will be supplied and described). The structure must accommodate a mid-sized vehicle for exhibit drop-offs. Sustainable building products including hemp brick/concrete are encouraged. Budget restrictions will also weigh heavily on the finished design.
Different building stages can be incorporated into your efforts.
It’s a “two-phase” competition similar to a sports play off series.
In Phase-One, the entrant will upload an image sample of their work and a short description
by email HERE and using PayPal HERE soon for entry fee(s).
We will NOT open zip, exe, png, pdf, doc, eml or any other attachments.
Please only send jpg, gif or bmp files only, all others will be deleted.

You can send it snail mail. We accept Check, U.S. Money Order, International Money Order or Credit Card number with expiration date (Visa, MC & Discover (no cash). Your cancelled check or bank statement will be your only receipt. Foreign checks and bank transfers are not acceptable. All entries must include: Name, Title, (Firm Name or Organization), Street Address, City, State, Zip/Postal Code, Country (if outside U.S.),
work phone and home phone with area code)

The PHASE-ONE fee is U.S. $60 for Professional (each additional $30) and U.S. $20 for Student Entry (each additional $10). If judged in, the applicant will receive by mail an official entry form, a set of blueprints, photos, etc. for Phase-Two.
